Arches is one of our most photogenic national parks. Three hundred million years of erosion have transformed this prehistoric seabed into an area containing over 2,000 natural sandstone arches.

We’ll photograph a few of these as well as other formations and include Mesa Arch in neighboring Canyonlands National Park. Except for the evening we spend at Delicate Arch, all photo locations are a short walk from parking areas.

This workshop will also offer the chance to learn lighting techniques with models - western style. If you want to learn how to use your speedlight, or master some more advanced techniques, this workshop is for you. Learn about light quality, modifiers, high speed sync and ‘what light is right’ for your image.  We will also use flash packs and teach basic location lighting techniques as well. Tom Bol is one of the leading experts in the use of artificial light and was recently interviewed on his lighting techniques by both Photo District News and Nikon.

Wait, there's more: For those interested in time-lapse photography, Tom will do a class on creating simple time-lapse sequences using Lightroom and Quick Time Pro and we'll demo time-lapse photography in the field. Weather permitting we'll do light painting and photograph the galactic core (Milky Way).
